Stitch and Craft Show

The Saturday after Chilford Quilt Festival we headed off to London and the Stitch and Craft Show at the Olympia for a chance to experience life on the other side of the exhibitor’s table!  And how was it on the other side of that table?  Well probably a little more relaxing but definitely not as much fun!   We had a great day though thanks to the company of the local quilt group and met a few new friends  – hello Nicola!    One of the highlights was the Mollie Makes quilted yurt which was an amazing display of quilts by the very talented Linzi Upton.  Linzi’s quilts with their unique blend of metallic fabrics and quilting patterns were cleverly arranged so the backs were visible from inside the yurt (and these were no ordinary backs!) and the fronts visible from the outside.

The knitted village also caught our eye – great attention to detail – the image below shows the local quilt shop with a quilt hanging outside and how cute are those lambs?!

We had a great day checking out the different zones – knitting, stitching, craft and of course, quilting – and A Gift of Quilts which were a collection of quilts donated to each country participating in the Olympics and Paralympics in 2012.  We were quite restrained when it came to purchases but still managed these…

… so we didn’t go home empty handed!

So what have you all been doing in this wet weather?  Catching up on your sewing we hope!  And for those of you not experiencing the wettest drought on record – please send some sunshine our way!

Hiya – it great meeting up with you both! Would be good to meet up again soon – are you going to the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham in August?

Hi Nicola – great to hear from you! Don’t think we’ll make it to Birmingham but we’re having a pop up shop at the Swan in Southwold from Fri 24th to Sun 26th August so maybe we’ll see you there?

We'd love to hear from you...
