Bundles of joy

We spent last weekend putting together a few new fat quarter bundles for the website starting with the most recent collections.

3bundlesCasablanca, Comma & Juggling Summer

Then we started to have some fun by mixing it up a bit…

JS+C

with this Juggling Summer and Comma bundle – a great Zen Chic combo.

Then we added a few others …

You can see all our bundles here and if you come and see us at our next pop up shop at The Swan Hotel, Southwold on May 25th to 27th, you can make your own!

Easter pop up

This was our first time doing an Easter weekend at The Swan Hotel in Southwold – what a brilliant weekend we had.   It snowed a bit, the sun shone, the wind cut like a knife and lots of people were out and about determined to enjoy their Easter break.  Our regulars were delighted when they entered the doors of the Cygnet Room as this time we had Valerie and John from Daisy May Quilting with an amazing display of quilts to show off their long arm quilting.

Our customers brought along some amazing work to show us.  Have a look at these panels from Linda and Yvonne.  These are two very talented (and patient!) ladies.

We also had a look at a lovely quilt made from the Salt Air collection – check out that fussy cutting!

There were others but we didn’t have time to take photos!  Thanks to all who came along, brought their lovely work, chatted, matched fabric and made our weekend.  We’ll be back in May…
Oh and for those of you in the UK – don’t forget to watch The Great British Sewing Bee tonight at 8.00pm on BBC2!

It must be Spring…

…because this time next week we’ll be in the middle of our third (and final) day at the Duxford Spring Quilt Festival!  Here’s a sneak peek at some of the fabrics and items we’ve made (and are making!) that we’ll have on display.

Fabrics are clockwise from top left – Kate Spain’s Cuzco, Lily Ashbury’s Gypsy Girl, Dianna LaFerry’s Feathers and Fancy and Simply Colour by V and Co.

Janet’s made an amazing table runner from these little babies…chateau rouge mini charm pack

otherwise known as a Moda mini charm pack or candy pack – 42 2.5 inch (approx 6.5 cm) squares of Chateau Rouge goodness and no, it’s nothing to do with wine, although it sounds as though it could be!

PLUS we have another shipment of Moda scrap bags in!! scrapbag_300px These are very popular and rightly so as they are excellent value and contain at least 1/2 lb (approx 227 g) of fabric strips, usually from the same collection but sometimes a mixture.  We don’t put these on the website so you’ll just have to come along to Duxford to check them out for yourself.  See you there!

Both these collections are ideal for quilts, bags or items for the home such as cushions.  Take a look at the rest of the fabric in our February sale here.

And don’t forget to book your tickets for the Spring Quilt Festival at Duxford – see you there!

February Fabric Sale

So it’s still cold and a bit bleak out there – or hotter than a shearer’s armpit depending on which part of the world you’re in!  Either way we thought it would be a great idea to brighten up everybody’s day and have a sale.  Our shelf space seems to be disappearing by the day and, as we’ve got some fab new fabrics on order, we thought what better way to clear a bit of room than to get you to help us out…

The collections are clockwise from top left, Floral Fancies, 30s Playtime, Blueberry Crumb Cake, Lilac Parade, Modern Edge and Westminster.

Each collection has between 5 and 10 fabrics so head on over to the website and have a closer look and don’t forget to keep an eye on it as we’ll be adding to the sale in the coming days.

Popping back to The Swan

Yes, its’s December again which means we’re back at the Swan Hotel in Southwold for another pop up shop.  After the excitement of the Autumn Quilt Festival in Duxford where we could only show off a small selection of our fabric, it’s time to go mad and put it all on display!  There’s been a few new fabric ranges arrive since we were last at the Swan…

And for those of you who came to see us at Duxford – here’s a little peek of what’s arrived since…

We’re also extending our range of Bella solids and now have some great colours in plums and greys so if you get a chance to drop by we’d love to see you.  Friday night (7th December) is also the turning on of the Christmas lights in Southwold so you can really get into the Christmas spirit if you haven’t already!

New fabric! – Trade Winds

Ooh, look what we’ve got!

One of the best parts of having an online fabric shop is opening the boxes when they arrive!  Especially when the fabric is as glorious as this Trade Winds by Lily Ashbury for Moda.  You can see our range here – including jelly rolls – and the great thing is it coordinates beautifully with Lily Ashbury’s previous collection, Summer House.  Vibrant is the name of the game when it comes to both these collections and they would make fabulous summer clothing now that the weather has finally got its act together!

Chilford quilt festival

We’ve just realised it’s been 4 weeks since we were at Spring Quilt Festival at Chilford!! It was our second time as exhibitors and so we were able to relax a bit more and enjoy meeting everybody and chatting to the other stand holders.  Hello to Ann at the Suffolk Sewing School and her team of helpers who very kindly gave us a hand with the finishing touches to our stand.  We kept the same layout as November with our frame for hanging fabrics on as it seemed to work well, but we displayed different collections and made up some examples to show off the fabric.  We were pretty pleased with the result!

Chilford March 2012

We also learnt a little more about the place called Glen Roy in Scotland from which our business takes its name.  Geography and geology lesson in one!  Even though it was hard work (and despite a couple of medical emergencies!) we really enjoyed being at Chilford and getting to know our customers.  We’ll be back in November if you want to come and say hello!

Happy Easter!
